Get ready to run!
Since I came back from Britain to California, I have not been a serious runner. The first year, I did run for about 3 to 5 miles per day, but that was not as much as while in East Anglian, where I tends to run average 7 miles per day.
A few reasons that cause such laziness. One of the reason is that I no longer know the right kind of landmark to tell me how far I had actually run. I used to use the cam river and the landmarks along the river to help. But now, the only way I estimated my running distance was counting the amount of minutes that I runned and my average running speed. I often see other runner with a running watch on their wrist. I am not really interested in a big watch on while running, the sweat on the wrist often make it difficult to keep the watch not moving.
When thinking of training for Marathon, I mentioned that in the office, and what do you know? Brad knows about Nike+. (Hurray to Nike, power of social marketing offline). It is just what I need. It keeps track on how far you have ran, your heart rates, and meanwhile you can listen to Music as well. ( that is an hurray to apple, the Nike+ sensor is a 'parasite' of ipod, ipod touch or the new iphone 3G S.
In the process of getting this HOT property, I as a modern buyer, checked the price and deals on the internet, and find that you can get that in ebay.
I could not wait for the shipping since I want to run tomorrow, I went to a local store, got that and I am very impressed with the slick design and simplicity of installation. There were nike running shoes on sale, I got a pair for half price. The good thing about that is that it has enough cushion on the sole that I do not feel any problem on the shin bone. ( My other shoe does pose that problem, it is ok to use that for dancing. Long distance running? Not a good thing). In addition to that, there is a little slot in the bottom of the shoe that can hold the sensor for you!
Did a few more search and find that there are other options available. If you do not want to buy another pair of running shoes, you can get some thing that can hold the sensor on your shoe ear.
Another gear that is useful is an ipod holder, I find
tuneband for iPod nano Third Generation Compatible with Nike+iPod Sport Kit - Black
, available from MacMall. It only cost 9.99. Much cheaper than the 29.95 armband I got from the local apple store. ( I need this in a hurry).
All the links in this post are my affiliate links, just want to have that disclosed.
I am looking forward to my run tomorrow. It must be good with all these new gadgets. :)
